After the announcement today a Cuffe & Taylor spokesperson said: “We see Lytham Proms Festival Weekend as our flagship event, and as such we put a lot of love and attention into who the local people would want to see, before we set upon our quest to secure world-class artists. We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing Alfie Boe to his neighbouring home town, for a spectacular evening next year. Lytham Proms Festival Weekend is growing year upon year, and 2012 is already promising to be a great weekend of music. Until now the headline acts have been fantastic female artists, but now we feel it is time for the male artists to shine, and who better than a local musical sensation like Alfie.”

Following the success of his appearance in Les Miserable 25th Anniversary concert, Boe continues to play the lead role of Jean Valjean at the Queens Theatre, in the West End, London. The encore from the show, “Bring Him Home”, then became Alfie’s signature piece and title of his last top 10 studio album. The follow-up album “Alfie”, is released later this month and is an assortment of some of the most beautiful and timeless classics.

Fans are invited to enjoy the evening in the usual ‘Last Night of The Proms’ style.

Tickets go on sale at 09:00 on Friday 14th October 2011, and for one week only will be at the special discount price of £32.50.

A spokesperson for Cuffe & Taylor said: “We feel that the format for the Classical night works really well, we are constantly thriving for perfection, and as such there are a few things that we will improve on for 2012, and full details will be available on the websites under FAQ’s.” Cuffe & Taylor Event Management Ltd is currently busy securing the artists for the rest of the weekend, and hopes to announce before Christmas – so watch this space.
